Time Blocking
One of the biggest challenges of running my own business has been balancing all of the different types of work that I do. Obviously, my clients all have their own important dates and deadlines. I also have essential work to do related to communication to prospective clients, learning useful continuing education and efforts to improve the experience for my clients.
Since April, I started to work on Time Blocking to organize my varying responsibilities and prevent things from falling through the cracks. While I’m still a work in progress, I find that it has helped me to become more productive because I have specific expectations for how long I am willing to work on a given task. Time Blocking also helps me to be more accurate because it discourages me from multitasking and risking error or confusion. It also helps me be more accurate when I estimate when a client might expect work to be completed.
